Dainese supported Vincent Philippe wins the 24 Hours of Le Mans
Release date: Thursday 23rd April 2015

For the first time in history, a professional motorcycle racer wearing an electronic air-bag system has won an Endurance World Championship race.

At the 24 Hours of Le Mans last weekend, Vincent Philippe and the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team (SERT) raced to victory and thanks to this, the Dainese D-air® system can now boast another superb record.

The D-air® has proved itself time and time again to be the only certified air-bag racing system that protects, is highly efficient and so reliable that it can be used by professional riders in one of the most gruelling events in motorcycle racing. Endurance races are where racers, motorcycles and technology are constantly put to the test.

After an accident a few years ago where Philippe broke his collar bone, the French-rider specially asked to race wearing the Dainese D-air® Racing suit to provide him with the best possible safety. His win at Le Mans was the latest chapter in a successful career of racing. The SERT rider has currently more EWC wins that any other rider in the championship, with eight world titles.

Following the race Philippe commented: “We are very lucky to be rewarded for the huge work accomplished over winter, by winning the 24H of Le Mans 2015. It was our dream, we made it, we are just happy now! It’s as well an excellent first step to our final target, the world championship. I’m really proud to be the first one who has ever been equipped in an endurance race with the famous Dainese airbag D-air. The suit is very comfortable to wear and in my mind I was feeling safe that it made me still more confident to race hard for the victory. Safety is a problem for each rider, and that’s the reason why I always would like to wear the D-air. I’d like to advise all motorcyclists, whether they ride on road or on track, to do the same – Dainese has the right solution for you. I’m especially proud to be one of the experimented Dainese pilots that made the difference this weekend, Valentino Rossi in MotoGP and myself in endurance.”

Dainese and D-air® are proud to support Philippe on his EWC win and also Valentino Rossi who won the MotoGP race in Argentina last weekend.
