Dainese and AGV present state of the art head-to-toe safety system for motorcycle racing
Release date: Tuesday 13th September 2016

Italian leather giant Dainese has launched a brand new head-to-toe safety system for motorcycle racing – in line with its company mission of advocating and delivering safety in dynamic sports. The new head-to-toe system includes the AGV Pista GP R helmet and the Dainese Mugello R D-air® racing suit, and represents a further milestone in safety technology. Working closely together with MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi, the outfit introduces several state-of-the-art technologies and innovations, conceived by the Dainese Science and Research Center.

The newborn Mugello R D-air® racing suit represents Dainese’s state-of-the-art safety technology and introduces over 25 new features and several pioneering innovations leading to five new patents. The D-air® platform has been implemented to extend the area covered by the airbag: from the neck, shoulders and collarbones, to the lower sides of the rib cage. The suit features a redesigned and seamless-integrated LED interface, as well as a patented Intelligent Emergency Lighting System directly triggered by the sophisticated D-air® algorithm.

The Mugello R D-air® offers enhanced comfort and protection with the application of an adaptive knee construction and innovative constructive solutions, such as high-performance pre-curved engineered textiles and tri-axial elastics. The elbow construction has also been re-engineered, introducing an optimised slider shape and a quick release system.

The Mugello R D-air® racing suit, available also through Dainese’s custom works program, will be introduced in two color options from April 2017 starting from £3,399.95.

The Pista GP R is an evolution of the groundbreaking Pista GP helmet and is the perfect combination of protection, performance and comfort – the three key pillars of the AGV Extreme Standard development protocol. The Pista GP R offers and increased field of vision with the introduction of a Race 3 Max Pinlock®, a Class 1 Optic visor with 100% Max Vision Pinlock® (120) and is characterised by a new-patented Visor Lock System (VLS).

The aerodynamic performance has been improved with a new wind-tunnel-tested Biplano rear spoiler, while comfort benefits from a new-patented interior structure and an implemented Integrated Ventilation System (IVS). The Pista GP R is the first helmet to include a hydration system, featuring internal channels and a drinking valve placed inside the chin area.

The Pista GP R will be available from November (2016) with prices starting from £1,011.95.

“The AGV Pista GP R and the Dainese Mugello R D-air®, our new head-to-toe safety system for motorcycle racing, yet represent another milestone in safety technology,” stated Cristiano Silei, Dainese Group CEO. “The Dainese Group confirms its total commitment to safety, fueled by the knowhow of the Dainese Science and Research Center and supported by continuous research and development efforts with its athletes”.
